Things Begin to Look Up

Even as they struggled with the above issues in India, TeNet and Midas began looking towards implementing CorDECT in other developing countries.

The technology's superiority and cost-effectiveness soon led to many orders from countries such as Madagascar, Fiji, Yemen and Kenya. By early 1999, CorDECT systems were successfully installed in several other countries including Argentina, Brazil, Nigeria, Angola, Tunisia, and Iran...

Implementation Becomes a Reality

In January 2000, DoT decided to use CorDECT to provide telecom connections to 50 villages in the Kuppam district of Andhra Pradesh. Kuppam was a remote area, where DoT was unable to provide telecom services - the rocky terrain made it impossible to lay wires...

Answering the Future's Call

In February 2003, Midas announced that it had bagged orders worth Rs 100 billion for supply of CorDECT technology and equipment from several telecom operators (like BSNL, MTNL, Reliance, Shyam Telelink, and HFCL Infotel among others) in India.

The company now had orders for more than 2 million new lines to be deployed in the country. Midas posted a total sales turnover of Rs 450 million for 2002-2003 (domestic and international operations combined)...
